Use the On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) to type

There are several different kinds of keyboards for PCs. The most common type is a physical, external keyboard that plugs into your PC. But Windows has a built-in Accessibility tool called the On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) that can be used instead of a physical keyboard.

You don’t need a touchscreen to use the OSK. It displays a visual keyboard with all the standard keys, so you can use your mouse or another pointing device to select keys, or use a physical single key or group of keys to cycle through the keys on the screen.

Some users who've upgraded early to the Window 10 April 2018 Update are reporting frozen screens and other problems likely related to driver issues.

A number of Reddit users have reported issues after installing the update, which Microsoft made available for download on April 30. The most common complaint is that Chrome freezes after installing the April 2018 Update.

However, some users are also experiencing lock-ups when using Firefox, Office, and Visual Studio Code. Others report that their mouse had stopped working.

A Microsoft agent called Jess Can said on the company's community forum that Microsoft is aware that "some devices may hang or freeze when using certain apps, such as 'Hey Cortana' or Chrome, after installing the Windows 10 April 2018 Update".

Microsoft is working on a fix and is aiming to include it in its next monthly update due out on May 8, the date Microsoft plans to push the update to more users through Windows Update.

The agent recommended users with keyboards press Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B simultaneously in the event of a frozen device.

Since feature update 22H2, Windows 11 has received support for Android apps and games. As with WSL, the Windows subsystem for Android (WSA), on which the Amazon Appstore is based, is used for this purpose.

But did you know that Canalys Insights estimated there are 240 million Windows 10 PCs doomed to the trash heap because they can't be upgraded to Windows 11 after Microsoft dumps Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025? As with any big piece of software, Linux is complex, and difficult for outsiders to comprehend. That’s why it’s not terribly shocking that a 9-year-old Linux kernel vulnerability, known as Dirty COW, wasn’t patched until just a few days ago on October 20.

First off, here’s a quick reminder of what Linux is: Linux is a kernel, just one piece of software in the GNU/Linux OS, with the GNU suite of tools making up the majority of the base operating system. That said, the kernel is one of the keys to the OS, allowing the software to interact with hardware. Linux’s importance to servers and infrastructure means that a lot of eyes are constantly looking at the kernel. Some of those eyes belong to employees at companies like IBM or Red Hat who are paid to work on it full-time. That’s pretty impressive for a piece of software that’s freely given away.

Still, bugs within the kernel can be overlooked. And some of them, in the right conditions, can be real doosies, as Dirty COW demonstrated.
