Free Technology for Teachers: Download The Practical Ed Tech Handbook | DIGITAL LEARNING | Scoop.it

Richard Byrne: For the last couple of days I've been assembling a collection of my favorite ed tech resources and organizing them into a PDF that I'm calling The Practical Ed Tech Handbook. This isn't just a list of my favorite resources. I've included ideas for using these resources and in many cases I've included links to video tutorials about my favorite resources.

In The Practical Ed Tech Handbook you will find resources arranged in seven categories; communication with students & parents, web search strategies, digital citizenship, video creation, audio production, backchannels & informal assessment, and digital portfolios.

99 Resources and Tools for Digital Learning

99 Resources and Tools for Digital Learning | DIGITAL LEARNING | Scoop.it

By Carrie Hopkins, from Top5OnlineColleges.org

The proliferation of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and other forms of online education has changed the landscape of guided learning for both students and teachers. Professors who once stood in front of classrooms filled with dozens of students now stand in front of webcams in front of thousands or tens of thousands of logged-in users. Grading papers, scoring tests, and giving personalized feedback are all totally different pursuits in an online environment, and technology companies are rushing to build the tools that make online learning easier, more effective, and more enjoyable for teachers and their students.

And while the internet offers a plethora of free content, there are times when it’s worth it to pay a little extra, Holden said. Those times could include when materials are done exceptionally well, when a resource is very unique, when an educator finds things he or she will use more than one time, or when it would cost more time to find exactly what an educator is searching for.

“As a teacher, you know there are not enough hours in the day for you to do everything you need to do,” Holden said. “Anything that can save time is worth my money.”
