Interactive map: Where Luxembourg's mobile phone masts are located

Interactive map: Where Luxembourg's mobile phone masts are located | Luxembourg (Europe) | Scoop.it
To surf the internet or even just phone with your smartphone, you will need relay antenna masts nearby. In Luxembourg there are 750 base stations and 1,100 antennas, which provide 3G and 4G coverage for the country's three main suppliers -- Post, Tango and Orange. Join uses the same network as Post.

There are more mobile phones than residents in Luxembourg, begging the question regarding the safety of radio waves, which can be harmful to humans. Antennas' power threshold will therefore soon be reduced from 100W to 50W. And "the electric field for each transmitter will be limited to 3 volts per metre in inhabited places," according to Camille Gira, Secretary of State for the Environment.

A map, listing the country's transmitters and the electromagnetic waves they release, is now available on the geoportal website. At each point, listed on the map below, you will find all the necessary information about the installations and the data of these transmitters.

Those over 50W are marked in red. The blue triangles show the measuring stations which assess the intensity of radiation.
