6 Steps to Turn Your Online Lead Generation Into Lead Nurturing

6 Steps to Turn Your Online Lead Generation Into Lead Nurturing | Content Curation and Marketing | Scoop.it
Lead nurturing is just as important as lead generation, but is often forgotten. Learn how to take new leads into paying customers using these 6 steps.
Barry Deutsch's insight:

The most insightful sentence in this entire blog post was:

"Lead nurturing is coming into a league of its own, especially as more sales intent now begins online."

Given that discovery of you and your value through on-line searching is now in the hands of the buyers of your service or product - how do you get found, attract, and then engage prospects?

Do you have a structured approach? Are you using specific tools? Is there a plan in place to begin exploration of some of these tools now that on-line search is the primary method for learning and discovery of products and services - either in B2C or B2B sectors.

Why It’s Time for the Content Marketing Haters to Move On in 2013

Why It’s Time for the Content Marketing Haters to Move On in 2013 | Content Curation and Marketing | Scoop.it
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Barry Deutsch's insight:

Great article by Marcus Sheridan as a counter-point to the recent Forbes article slamming "content marketing". Marcus is an icon in the social media movement and is a major champion of content marketing.

I believe he is speaking at the upcoming Vistage Conference.

Are you using content marketing in your marketing efforts with your network, referral sources, followers, fans, and connections?

If not, you might be missing a great opportunity for engagement, education, referrals, and leads of CEOs for your groups.

I do nothing in selling. All my material is educational, sharing with my networks how to hire, retain great people, and leverage social media. My entire focus is to stimulate a conversation or dialogue around these core topic areas. I get an extraordinary amount of referrals and leads through this education-oriented communication.

I have a intensive personal coaching program for chairs that I do on a complimentary basis for the chair community showing them how to leverage social media and content marketing to find, attract, and engage potential CEOs for their groups. Over 100 chairs internationally participate in this personalized FREE coaching program.

Unfortunately, it doesn't happen overnight - it's a long-term multi-year strategy. Are you starting to put your toe in the water to begin educating your network about the value you and Vistage/TEC bring to CEOs?

Develop EXPERT Status Through Content Curation

Develop EXPERT Status Through Content Curation | Content Curation and Marketing | Scoop.it
Isn't Curation what Museums do? Curation is a long word for collecting stuff and sharing it. Yes, curation is what museums do. They collect interesting.
Barry Deutsch's insight:

From this article, the most important line is:

"Curation sets you up as an expert in your field."

You become the "go-to" expert on fresh content that is useful, meaningful, and valuble to your prospects, followers, fans, and connections.

They come to expect great content mixed with your "insights" on how it's relevant to them. They expect it at regular intervals like clockwork. You become their trusted source of information or "tour guide" as the author of this article suggests to filtered content on the Internet.

You frame the discussion for issues that you can help them solve - you get to dictate what subject is discussed, dissected, debated, and understood.

Curating content for your unique niche allows you to be the "expert" voice and stand above all the other clutter coming out of your competitors.

Are you prepared to become an expert in your niche?

Does Your Content Create Curiosity? | Content Curation and Marketing | Scoop.it
Learn to get your blog post, offer or presentation noticed in this noisy world by creating curiosity.
Barry Deutsch's insight:

Russ Henneberry articulated in his blog post exactly what I try to do with my clients:

"Curiosity is a kind of cognitive thirst that wants to be quenched. To make a person curious we have to create a gap between what they know and what they want to know."

In all your marketing, content creating, distribution, publication, and sharing - do you create curiousity? Do your prospects have a thirst that only you can quench? Do they look to you as a trusted source of information for issues facing them on a daily basis?

Some of my clients call me the "pain doctor" because I show them the gap between what they are currently doing vs. what they should be doing.

Do you create this level of pain with your CEo prospects so that they crave the information you can provide to eliminate their "pain?"

Before you start feeding the content marketing beast to communicate with your clients, customers, or network, do you know what your competitors or industry leaders are doing to share content with your target audience?

Are they doing it well? Are they using you as their benchmark standard? Are they being creative in ways you never imagined?

Are you competitors a year ahead of you in terms of their sophistication and leverage of social media tools that enable them to find, attract, and engage with their clients, customers, and network?

Content marketing: what is really holding you back?

Content marketing: what is really holding you back? | Content Curation and Marketing | Scoop.it

It's been a big year for content marketing, and now the vast majority of marketers see it as a key part of their strategy. Less than 1/3 of all companies have dedicated people, a strategy, and a budget.

Barry Deutsch's insight:

Everyone's seems shocked and appalled that so few companies have an effective content marketing strategy plan. However, one must consider that this idea of content curation and marketing, has not been around as long as mainstream social media - maybe 12-18 months.

And the worst news is that few companies have embraced social media outside of the big brands.

Is it any wonder no one is jumping on the content curation and marketing bandwagon yet?

That said about the "newness" of content marketing, it is still a force to be acknowledged, researched, and implemented.

It's as important to B2C firms as it is to personal service firms.

My perception of the low adoption rate, especially among entrepreneurs and SMBs is that it is unproven, poor ROI measurements, and a lack of stories to engage, excite, and compel CEOs/Owners to take action.

What a Little Boy and a Puppy Taught me About Content Marketing

What a Little Boy and a Puppy Taught me About Content Marketing | Content Curation and Marketing | Scoop.it

"What a Little Boy and a Puppy Taught me About Content Marketing
Business 2 Community. It taught the importance of telling a compelling story with a key point"

Barry Deutsch's insight:

As I read this story, tears started to form in the corners of my eyes. What a wonderful story it was. However, what's the point - that all puppies can be sold to the right person? That you can't judge a book by it's cover? That we don't listen deeply enough or ask the right questions? That our bias clouds our judgement?

It was a wonderful story - how does it translate into a business environment. I think the author failed to make that bridge.

However, the author did get me thinking about why I don't tell stories more often - real stories of executives using my techniques, services, tools, and products to improve the success of their business.

I realized I don't ask for and document these stories as strong as I should.

One of the key points I try to stress in my Chair Coaching Program for Leveraging Social Media is the need to be a master story teller. Your stories of how your existing members (members from other groups if you're a new chair) have received specific and precise value to their personal lives and businesses. Did they get an idea or spark that was subsequently executed? Did the idea come from a speaker presentation, peer discussion, or coaching session with you?

It is the stories that will attract your best CEO group members in the coming years. Do you have a large list of these stories to tell and share?

Chris Clothier

“I HubSpot because I didn't realize 3 years ago that we could have this number of conversions"

Barry Deutsch's insight:

Here's a great example of a case study by a HubSpot client who used the "marketing-in-a-box" approach that Hubspot provides. It's probably one of the greatest tools for small businesses and entrepreneurial firms selling a high value service/product which requires a fair amount of customer education and learning.

Unfortunately, the entry price is fairly steep. It's probably not a program you'll embark upon unless your revenue level is in the $5-10 million range at a minimum.

However, I like the example of using simple on-line tools even when you are an "off-line" business.

The 5 Models Of Content Curation

The 5 Models Of Content Curation | Content Curation and Marketing | Scoop.it
The 5 Models Of Content Curation | Influential Marketing Blog http://t.co/mEFqI1Pz
Barry Deutsch's insight:

Of the 5 models of content curation, my primary focus is:

"Distillation - The idea behind distillation is that adding a layer of simplicity is one of the most valuable activities that someone can undertake"

I take the 3 various niches I focus on and distill content so that I can act as the filter, expert, and "framer" of discussions. I can use it to educate, move others to action, and create a platform for asking questions.

These niches includes:

1. CEOs seeking executive search and hiring solutions to find great talent.

2. Executive Job Seekers looking for coaching on how to conduct an effective job search.

3. Speakers, Coaches, Consultants, Trusted Advisors, Personal Service Providors, and Sales Teams seeking coaching support to learn how to use social media and specifically LinkedIn to generate leads and opportunities.

Each of these "niches" has different issues, content, questions, learning, and failure points. By addressing these various issues through content curation distillation, I can be viewed as the "go-to" expert.

As a group facilitator, how do you use one of these 5 models to develop your expertise and "go-to" status for your prospects and network?

His success in content marketing appears to have come from a challenge of writing 99 questions about his niche. He then turned that into a book. From there he had plenty of content.

Lessons learned: Have a calendar of blog posts (I actually calendar not only my blog posts but all my social media postings), and write a book as the basis for yoru content.

This is one of my favorite metaphors for the value of content curation and marketing. It opens more windows for your prospects (CEOs) to become aware of you and what you can provide to them.

Without an aggressive strategy of content curation and marketing, it becomes very difficult for your prospects to find you, let alone become aware of what you can do for them.

Once your prospects find you - can you generate enough interest to engage or capture their interest through your thought leadership expressed in content marketing?
